Arise face soap
$9.00This is a soap for faces--one that we envisioned as a morning soap to start your day. And if you want it to be, it can be more than that, too. Because local plants and flowers and land totally rock, and forming relationships with them is life changing for humans, at least for us. So, if you want more than just soap, read on...
What if I don't just get up in the morning--what if I ARISE? What if I recognize the simple miracle that it is just to wake up here? What if I start the day with plants who quietly but powerfully remind me to notice who and what brings me alive? Remind me to notice where I become more playful or more fully present as I go about my day? And what if I start to imperceptibly shift toward my own sunshine, the way that plants never fail to do? Just by holding these plants to my face each morning? Just by acknowledging the gift they are.
The flowers and plants in this soap showed up here to demonstrate to me that--at any age--we don't have to settle for what we've settled for in the past. For example, I'm not a morning person. I tend to stay up too late to get extra quiet alone time after the family is asleep, and I tend to stay in bed too long in the morning. For decades. I sort of drag myself out of bed and force myself to get going by sheer stubborn will. It's not great. And it's only gotten worse as I've gotten older. So, this year I began to look to the early springtime plants and flowers for ideas about different ways to be. The nearby chickweed and cleavers weed and cherry blossoms in this soap demonstrate ways to do early better. Showing up full of life and energy and ready to arise and truly shine after a time of deep rest. I'm not allowing myself to take the deep rest I need. The rose petals joined in because they love our faces and our skin, especially when we don't love them ourselves. They're cool like that.
To use: Wash your face with the soap however you normally do, taking care not to get soap in your eyes. Take a moment to smell the scent and feel the texture and to be grateful for cherry blossoms, chickweed, cleavers weed (yes, even you gardeners, this plant is amazing), and roses. Remember that these plants are here, right now, helping you arise. Not to just "face another day." But to claim this day as a living being who is lucky enough to be waking up again and who gets to call this beautiful world home for a while. Arise!
Storage and life of the bar: To extend the life of the bar, store it where it can dry quickly after use and where it doesn't get regular spray from the faucet. Setting it on a soap dish or folded wash cloth is a great idea.
