Island Love gift sets

We have two new Island Life gift sets this year. Island Love gift sets are $30 each. Each gift set contains three Ritual Mischief gift offerings: 1) a favorite soap, 2) a favorite everyday balm, salve, or lotion bar, and 3) a lip balm. All of our offerings are made with plants ethically grown and gathered by us on Whidbey Island (and a few we gather are from friends’ trusted and beloved lands along the Skagit river or in the woods in Arlington). They come tucked into shredded wood and are in a white gift box that is also shippable. Click the drop-down arrow to choose which of the gift sets you'd like. Island Love gift sets this year include: 

• Love You gift set. This one holds our offerings that contain plants that support us in feeling more loved and loving. One Rose Calendula soap, one Love You! lotion bar, and one Whidbey Meadow's Kiss lip balm. The lotion bar is very lightly scented and smells like our wild roses here. The lip balm is unscented although there's a hint of rose and lavender that come from the plants being infused into olive oil. The items in this box are from our Comfort & Support family (pink) and Connection & Belonging family (orange).
• Hardworking Hands gift set. This one is for people who work their hands hard--from farmers to gardeners to ship builders to athletes to construction workers. It holds one Whidbey Hardworking Hands hand soap (windfall Whidbey pine, Douglas fir, and honeysuckle), one Whidbey Gardener's Balm hand balm (calendula, lavender, comfrey leaf and flower, burdock root, and cleavers plant), and one Whidbey Garden's Kiss lip balm (calendula, chamomile, comfrey leaf and flower, and spearmint). Both the hand balm and the lip balm are unscented except for the mild scent imparted by the plants themselves as they infuse into the olive oil. The soap scent is woodsy and earthy. The items in this box are all from our Connection & Belonging family (orange).

If you'd like to include a Gift Message inside the box, please leave your message in the Comments field as you order and we'll handwrite the message on a small card. If you're shipping gift sets to more than one location, you'll need to do them as separate transactions because I am not currently tech-savvy enough to figure out how to do otherwise. We hope to offer this in the future.

Tip for humans: Plants and trees can connect silly and serious and sad humans across all sorts of real and imagined barriers. Let the plants speak. Unlike humans, most trees and plants don't seem to worry about humanity's personal ideas, beliefs, backgrounds, language, politics, orientation, gender, age, ability, generation, history, health status, etc. They respond instead to how we feel in the moment and to our unspoken actions in the world. If you worry that one of these gift sets wouldn't work for someone in your family or community because they believe or think vastly differently than you do, or they're a different gender than you, or whatever that difference you worry about may be, take a deep breath in and let it out slowly, my friend, and think again. Think like a tree. Let the plants speak for themselves. Without words to get in the way, they speak volumes. They've taught us that people are far more complex and interconnected and wonderful and surprising and delightful than our individual worrying minds alone could ever fathom. The plants are wise friends, neighbors, and ancestors for ALL of us. Let them be.

Shipping. We ship in the continental US via U.S.P.S. mail and priority mail. If everything goes well, shipping takes between 1 and 5 days. If the gift is for an important event, especially during the busy winter holidays season (November & December), it's best to allow 10 calendar days, because the postal system can get overwhelmed in places and during certain times of the year. If you're buying for Christmas, for example, we suggest ordering no later than December 15, 2023 to get the gift to someone in time for Christmas. It likely won't take that long, but we don't want to disappoint you if the post office decides to take its sweet time! Orders must be in by noon Pacific Standard Time to reach our post office that day.

Storage and life of the products: To extend the life of the soap bars, store them where they can dry quickly (like on a soap drainer or folded dry washcloth) after use and where they don't get regular spray from the faucet. Unused, the soaps will last a very long time, possibly even longer than you and me. All balms, salves, lotion bars and lip balms should be stored in cool, dry locations. Balms, salves and lotion bars are best within 18 months of purchase and lip balms are best within 12 months of purchase.   

Size: Of soap bars: The bars are roughly 4 ounces. Our soaps are made by hand, in small batches, and hand cut by cool women. We're not machines, people, nor do we aspire to be. Size of balms: 2 oz. Size of lotion bars: ~2.2 oz. Size of lip balms: 1 oz. 

Packaging: See the Packaging page of this website for details. Soap packaging is made from recycled materials and is recyclable and also compostable. All balm, salve, lip balm, and lotion bar packaging is food safe, reusable, and may be recycled in some areas.
