A celebration of olive oil, soap making, slow living, and a pure labor of love! Send this Slow-Cured Pure Olive Oil Soaps gift set to someone you treasure or give a set to yourself. This gift set includes one each of our pure olive, lavender olive, and comfrey olive soaps:

  • One slow-cured Lavender Olive Oil soap. We infuse lavender from our garden into organic extra virgin olive oil for 8 weeks. Then, we make and cut the soap by hand. Then, the soap sits in our dark soap closet, curing, for 6 to 12 months, getting better by the day. Then we wrap the soap by hand. A labor of love that smells mildly fragrant and relaxing. Great for when you need to relax and recharge.
  • One slow-cured Comfrey Olive Oil soap. We infuse cultivated comfrey leaves and flowers from our trusted local friends' farms into organic extra virgin olive oil for 6 weeks. Then, we make and cut the soap by hand. Then, the soap sits in our dark soap closet, curing, for 6 to 12 months, getting better by the day. Then we wrap the soap by hand. Comforting comfrey. A labor of love. Great for when you want to feel comforted and loved.
  • One slow-cured Pure Olive Oil soap. Made with organic extra virgin olive oil, these soaps are dense, gentle, long-lasting, soft on the skin, and have remarkable cleaning power. We make and cut the soap by hand. Then the soap sits in our dark soap closet, curing, for 6 to 12 months, getting better by the day. Then we wrap the soap by hand. A labor of love all the way. This bar can be used to clean people, yes. It could also be used to clean all sorts of things around the house. For example, I use one bar for removing accumulated kitchen grease from the range hood and tops of cabinet doors and cupboards. If you use this bar for home cleaning, don't use it for people cleaning too.

The gift set ships in a cardboard box. Upon requestion, it can also be shipped in festive evergreen gift box with images of green and white evergreen branches, holly branches, and pine cones on the box (see photoa). You can also choose to give the gift in our Silly Dog Studios gift bag.

Whidbey folks, you can choose the Pick Up option to avoid shipping costs at check out, and you can pick up from our herbal studio here (I'll email to arrange a pickup time after you order). We can ship in the continental US. If everything goes well, shipping takes 2 to 4 days. If it's for an important event, allow 10 calendar days because the postal system can get overwhelmed in places and during certain times of the year. If you're buying for Christmas, for example, you need to order by December 15, 2021 to get this gift to someone in time for Christmas. It likely won't take that long, but we don't want to disappoint you if the post office decides to take its sweet time!

P.S. Castile soaps are typically defined as soaps with no synthetic ingredients or animal fats (true of all our soaps) and made with just olive oil and sodium hydroxide (which is true of just these three soaps for us) and made in a style similar to soaps made in the Castile region of Spain.

Product details...

Storage and life of the products: To extend the life of the soap bars, store them where they can dry quickly (like on a soap drainer or folded dry washcloth) after use and where they don't get regular spray from the faucet. Unused, the soaps will last a very long time, possibly even longer than you and me. ;-)

Size of soap bars: The pure olive oil soap bars are roughly 3.5 ounces, the comfrey olive oil bars are roughly 3.5 to 4-ounces, and the lavender olive oil bars are roughly 4-ounces. We learned this year that they lose a tiny bit of water (and weight) in the extra long curing process, and we did the pure olive oil and comfrey olive oil soaps first, so we bumped up the size of the lavender bars a bit to compensate for the water loss. Our soaps are made by hand in small batches and hand cut by cool women, not machines. This means bars can range a little in size, but we keep anything accidentally cut too small for ourselves and our families, to give as gifts to neighbors in need (in the past few years that was soaps to a local shelter for unhoused people and to frontline healthcare workers at Mom's memory care home), and to cut up and give as free surprises and samples for those who buy our products. We're not machines, people, nor do we want to be. :-)

Ingredients in the pure olive oil soap: Organic extra virgin olive oil, sodium hydroxide, distilled water, and sodium lactate.

Ingredients in the lavender pure olive oil soap: Our own lavender infused in organic extra virgin olive oil, plus sodium hydroxide, distilled water, and sodium lactate.

Ingredients in the comfrey pure olive oil soap: Local comfrey (Symphytum uplandica x) leaf and flower (purple flowers) from our trusted friends' farms (Mountain Tree Farm and Workin Dreams Farm) and infused in organic extra virgin olive oil, plus sodium hydroxide, distilled water, and sodium lactate.

Packaging: We currently wrap our soaps in a small piece of food-safe, compostable parchment paper with a paper label to ensure safe handling. Consider recycling the paper or, better yet, rip it into pieces and use it as a great "brown" in your compost pile or bin.
